The summer of l999, yours truly, a l947 Nathan Hale grad, "crashed" a 50 year reunion gig at the Maumee River Yacht Club for the Nathan Hale class of l949. I brought home two pieces of
nostalgia I will share with fellow Nathan Hale grads and others. Ready?
"Nathan Hale School Song" (required to sing this dirge like anthem by our vocal teacher, Edna Hollopeter)
"Within our city is a school so fine, Our own Nathan Hale. It is named for a patriot so brave and true, Loyal Nathan Hale. To be like him in our service to our school,
We will always try, There are many reasons why we love you so, Now we'll tell you why. Chorus: It's the high ideals you stand for, And the things you mean to me,
All the friendships we have formed here, Dear to us will always be. It's the teachers who have taught us, To take pride in all we so, So all hail to you, dear Nathan Hale,
That's why we'll always love you true"
Many times we would purposely sing this slow moving melody in monotone voices, causing Edna Hollopeter to bang the piano keys in anger and scream out,
"Who are those monotones!!!???"

From Joan Jennings Dineen: I think it was grade 5
and Mrs. Mill's class. I do not recall the name of the girl next to Larry Pertcheck but those who filled out that first row included Lowrie Lou Sprague, John Karas with the patch over his eye, Joan Jennings, and Dewey Scheff. The fourth row included a Vicky something, Alice Taylor, Janice Church, Randy Bond , Stanly something- I think- and at the end of the row Carol Asendorf.
